In the inaugural iRacing World Drivers Championship at Barber Motorsports track, Greger showed the field his intentions by setting a blistering qualifying lap and take the win by a huge margin!

Greger was joined in the 50 lap race by Dom, Luke and Bastien. Bastien set a great 2nd place on the grid with Dom in 5th and Luke in 6th - all covered by .2 of a second!

Qualifying proved all important as passing on the tight Barber track was very difficult. Greger took off and immediately set an awesome pace, bastien was passed but Richard Towler into the hairpin and Dom and Luke were challenging Shawn for 4th position. As the race progressed the pace was hotting up, Dom was carrying some damage from the first lap which saw him struggle with low rear grip, Bastien was just keeping ahead of Shawn and Luke was over the back of Dom. This was a catalyst for Luke, on lap 20 Dom's car went into an insta-spin in T2, amazingly he did a complete 360 degree spin but not with slightly clipping Luke and putting him into the wall.

Bastien also struggled with low grip and a small error allowed Shawn to pass into 3rd place. Upfront was a different matter, Greger was setting an awesome pace and made sure he brought it home for the first iDWC race victory for Team Redline.

He Later had this to say...

"Wooo, it feels great to win the first race!

I'm opposite to Rich as I really like Barber with all the combination of corners and elevations. If it was a bit longer it would be perfect! It's definitely one of my best tracks but I was still really surprised to be on pole with such a margin. I got a bit of a gap in the start and then just kept up a consistent pace to build a margin since you never know what happens in the pits and I was expecting some traffic too.

I caught a group of cars on lap 20 or so but everyone gave room very nicely. I pitted on lap 26 just when I caught another big group of cars so the timing of the stop worked really well there. I lost a lot of time in traffic after my stop but I had good lead so it wasn't necessary to take any risks and I knew Rich would hit the same traffic later.

All in all it was a clean race and I'm really happy to get the win here as it's probably the track where I'm the most competitive. Congrats to Rich and Shawn for the podium. Bad luck with my teamies Luke and Dom, good finish for Bastien.

And a shout to our sponsor Fanatec! "

Dom also reflected on his race...

"Well firstly awesome pace Greger:)

Secondly, bitter sweet feeling about the race, I had an average qual but it was good enough for 5th which was great.

On the start I got damage immediately and the car turned left better! however right handers had tonnes of understeer. After slotting in with shawn right in front and Luke behind it was pretty close for the first 20 laps or so, I tried to pass Shawn a couple of times but couldnt make it stick. On lap 20 i managed to get out of shape in t2, do a 360 spin and tag luke as he went past, unfortunately ending his race:( After that it went downhill, very hard to drive with the rear feeling as bent as a 3 bob note.

Overall I'm pleased with a 7th place finish considering, however I expected more.

Congrats to Greger and podium as well as Bastien, thanks to Fanatec. "

And finally, unlucky Luke said...

" had alot of fun this race. I was not prepared for it to be honest, but I felt ok with my pace. Off the line i lightly touched Dom going into T1, hairy moment lol. Than there was a great 4 car battle for 3rd. Had an epic duel with Dom at 1 point, side by side at high speeds will be great to see on the replay when its out. Than unfortunately Dom had a spin and I brushed him by a millimeter, this pitched me into a spin and into the wall. Despite this I had fun overall "

Team Redline head to VIR next for 50 laps of the full circuit.
