In the PRO Road Luke Mclean has been heading the charge swappping the lead at the top of the rankings each week with Shawn Purdy and Richard Towler. This week saw Dom Duhan Ben Cornett and Luke head to VIR Full Course in the Riley Daytona Prototype. The PRO title is decided over a 26 week period with the drivers 6 worst results removed, currently it is too close to call with 3 weeks remaining.

VIR is one of the trickiest circuits on the calendar, each corner has the potential to be a deathtrap especially as the car does not like the kerbs, this made the 30 lap race even more intriguing. Unfortunately in the first race Dom and Luke's starts were not fantastic, Luke lost his pole position advantage with Richard getting a better start with a different gear ratio, this put pay to his race as it is difficult to overtake cleanly without a driver making a mistake. For Dom who dropped to 5th, the race was more exciting, as he battled back to seal 3rd place behind Luke.

Ben on the other hand got an amazing start off the blocks but a little too good! After nearly hitting the car in front he had to take avoiding action damaging his car on the barrier, this was disappointing for the Melbourne man as his pace in practise had been incredible, regardless Ben battled on in 4th place but was subsequently taken out by Artur Turcus unfortunate mistake (of which he was very apologetic).

Luke had this to say -

"Started on pole for once but chose a 5 gear setup as opposed to 4 gears of Rich. He smoked me off the line, and I followed Rich close for 3/4 of the race. I made alot of small errors and half spun with 10ish laps to go so I settled for 2nd. Grats to Towler... "

Dom also had this -

"Well, after limited practise (excuse out the way) I was pretty pleased to finish 3rd.

I got a poor start and Mauro got passed, I also struggled to keep Daniel and Richard at bay, but luckily did around T1 into T2. From there it was a case of tryin to get past Mauro, we had a few interesting moments and it looked like he nearly killed himself about 4 times lol. I then managed to get really close after the tree and managed to overtake. My first plan was to lay down the hammer to build a gap and successfully did that.

From then onward it was a case of just finishing, I went off at the tree a couple of times but nothing major, well done to Rich and unlucky Luke who had awesome pace. "

And finally Ben -

"So convinced was I that purdy and illka "Ill do the very last ttrial of the week and beat you by 0.002" haapalaa (i dont care i spelled your name wrong) started in reverse that i panicked and drove into wall.

Now, driving a new improved super banana car that didnt turn right or stop (lucky, as VIR contains only 2x10^45 right handers) I endeavoured to keep artur stuck behind me for no other reason than I hate having such a high safety rating. "
