The reason for my "review" about Mercedes Benz World Racing was due to email correspondence regarding one of the old Mercedes Benz racing cars, the 154, and the 196, which was mentioned in an older article. MBWR was the first game to include these cars.

Videos of the old cars:

wr1hrw196.wmv (http://jeffareid.net/wr1/wr1hrw196.wmv)

The main interesting feature of MBWR was it's truly 3d rendered landscapes, as opposed to the typical rendered corredor surrounding a race track. With MBWR, a car could be driven (or dropped from a movable camera view)anywhere on the landscapes. This game was never meant to be a true racing sim, it's more similar to the Toca Race Driver series, still it was a fun game. In the world racing series, driving over landscapes was part of the game, including landing on buildings, bridge jumps, ..., realism not the point here:

Pursuits are a big part of many of the Need For Speed games (although not with the latest ProStreet). A video of a "final pursuit" from Most Wanted, mostly using just one of the 4 main areas of the game (albeit this is the largest main area in the game). Leave it to NFS games to promote responsible driving:

Will have to wait a bit on this video, my nfs9 folder is semi-deleted and I'm currently restoring it.
