Greger Huttu Race Report – Infineon Raceway

That must have been the first time I’ve gained a place in a DWC start! After a bit of a disappointing qualifying it was nice to do that. My second qual lap was going ok but I locked up slightly into the last hairpin and lost around a tenth. Hugo did a very nice lap so I’m not sure if it would have been enough anyway. Still, I was disappointed after qual because I had more pace than I showed.

The start made up for qualifying and it was important to get to the front because it’s so hard to follow another car here due to the mega understeer in dirty air. I wasn’t that confident before the race because the car seemed to get really tricky to drive after some laps but seemed like everyone had the same problem so my race pace turned out to be really good.

I managed to pull away during the first stint and as it turned out Hugo was lighter on fuel so it was looking good after the first stops. Second stint was a bit up and down and I lost some time behind lappers but in the end it turned out fine. During the third stint I thought Hugo might struggle more towards the end as he was going for a longer stint and the tyres don’t really like it here. I was watching the gap between him and Atze and seeing that it’ll be close but in the end Atze didn’t have enough fuel. A really good race and result for him though with the preparation he had! Well done to Darren for having another solid run, too.

Cheers to Fanatec and see you at VIR for the last race before the summer break.
